Move Information Quickly and Easily

One of the most powerful features of the Relex software is the CAD Import/ExportWizardTM. It enables you to import and export information to and from Relex Project files with ease. If your design information is in a CAD system, or if you have a parts listing in a database, spreadsheet, or word processor, you can automatically transfer the information into Relex. The time savings compared to manually entering this part information can be tremendous.

Import the Data You Need from Common File Formats

The CAD Import/ExportWizardTM allows you to import and export as much or as little information as you want. For example, you could select to import only the part number from your CAD Bill of Materials listing, or you could import the part number, quantity, and power dissipation, or you could import the entire Bill of Materials listing, containing all of the information that Relex needs in order to perform its calculations.

Relex supports a number of file formats. The Bill of Materials (BOM) format is a standard output from CAD systems. The ASCII Delimited format is a general line by line listing of part data. Additional formats supported include Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word, dBase, Lotus 1-2-3, FoxPro, and Paradox. The readable Keyword format allows you to enter data by simply entering a coded keyword and an associated value for that data parameter.

CAD ImportWizardTM Takes You Step-by-Step

The CAD ImportWizardTM walks you through the steps of transferring your information. It actually shows the information contained in the file that you are importing, and allows you to visually map the information in your file to Relex fields. Since the Relex CAD Interface can import or export any information in any order, you have complete flexibility over how data fields are organized after the import or export process is complete. The Wizard also supports special types of importing, like importing actual temperature or stress information. This is useful when importing data that has been exported from other applications such as PSpice or OrCAD. By directly importing files into Relex that are exported from PSpice, reliability of your components from your PSpice application can be calculated. Similarly, by using a file exported from OrCAD, reliability of your components from OrCAD can be found as well.

The CAD Interface Module has been designed with flexibility in mind. Whatever your requirements, the CAD Interface Module has the flexibility and power to meet your data transferring needs.
