Relex Reliability Prediction supports all the globally accepted reliability models. With Relex, the
additional analysis capabilities available in one model can be applied to any model you use. For example, you can
incorporate Bayesian or Process Grade analysis from the PRISM standard into a MIL-HDBK-217 analysis; or you can
apply Method analysis from the Telcordia standard into an HRD-5 analysis. Only Relex offers this kind of
flexibility and increased analysis potential!
MIL-HDBK-217 is the original worldwide standard for electronic reliability analysis and supports
both commercial and military grade components. Relex supports both the Part Stress calculation method, which
allows taking actual temperature and stress information into account, and the simpler Parts Count method, used
for quick estimates and early design analyses. Relex also extends these calculations by supporting the
mathematical models from the Telcordia specification, which allow the incorporation of burn-in as well as
laboratory and field data.
The Telcordia SR-332 method, formerly generated by Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), provides
reliability models for commercial grade electronic components. Previously Bellcore TR-332, Telcordia SR-332 also
provides for using data from device burn-in, unit burn-in, laboratory testing, and actual field testing.
The PRISM standard was originally developed by the Reliability
Analysis Center (RAC), and has been incorporated into the Relex Reliability Prediction module for doing MTBF
prediction and system reliability analysis. PRISM enables you to select parts from both the EPRD and NPRD
documents published by RAC and enables the use of predecessor data and process grading factors in your
reliability analyses.
The Mechanical Reliability (NSWC-98/LE1) standard, also known as the "Handbook of Reliability Prediction
Procedures for Mechanical Equipment," contains mechanical reliability models for seals, springs, solenoids, bearings,
gears, splines, valves, actuators, pumps, brakes, clutches, and more.
CNET 93 is a standard developed by France Telecom that provides reliability models for a wide range
of components. CNET 93 is a comprehensive model similar to MIL-HDBK-217 which provides a detailed stress
analysis.
RDF 2000 (CNET 2000) is a newer version of the CNET 93 standard, developed by UTE. Sometimes referred to
as CNET 2000, it uses cycling profiles and
their applicable phases to provide a completely different basis for failure rate calculations.
HRD5 is a reliability standard developed by British Telecommunications plc that also provides
models for a wide range of components. In general, HRD5 is similar to CNET 93, but provides simpler models and
requires fewer data parameters for analysis.
299B is based on the Chinese standard GJB/z 299B. 299B was translated into English by Beijing Yuntong
Forever Sci.-Tech. Co. Ltd., and incorporated into Relex Reliability Prediction. 299B is very similar to the
MIL-HDBK-217 reliability standard, allowing you to take actual temperature and stress information into
account.
